Interview with a timber company, not just about the changes that took place BEFORE & AFTER investing in our machine
"When we considered the technological changes in our production in 2010, we were not just thinking of simply replacing a flatbed machine with a newer model, but because of the ever-rising raw material prices and electricity costs, we took a completely different idea of production technology.
Our basic requirement for the selection of a new machine was to reduce the operating costs of the machine and at the same time significantly increase the yield of the processed material. It was also a requirement to be able to respond flexibly to small orders, which we have not yet dealt with.
After long deliberation and selection from the offers of several types of machines, we decided on a single-disc spreading saw FLS 170, which is manufactured by the Czech manufacturer Störi Mantel from Rožnov pod Radhoštěm. When choosing this machine, in addition to the parameters of the machine, the availability of service and the manufacturer's approach to our individual requirements for the machine for our production were also on the weighing pan.
In 2011, we replaced the classic multi-disc spreading saw with the FLS 170 single-disc saw, which the manufacturer prepared based on our requirements. Already during the first months of operation, we were convinced of the correctness of the investment by the quick reality by:
1. We saved 2 workers in the cutie savings in wages
2. Production has become more efficient - ie. reducing operating costs, increasing yield by 15% and flexibility in order processing
3. We have increased work safety
I am sure that this decision was the right one. The saw works very accurately and reliably in tolerance of up to 0.5 mm, in difficult climatic conditions in Liptov.
The operator, who has been trained by Störi Mantel, does not see any problems with the operator himself. Of course, he especially acknowledges that on the old machine it was very demanding physical work, where they had to push the prism and the divided material, and in the case of quartz wood, laboriously free it from the machine.
Today, he basically places the prism on the work table and cuts the material to the required dimensions with only light movements. Compared to the old method, the division and setting of different widths is completely safe and very fast, wherewith the help of the selected program it is possible to change the widths of the divided material very quickly and thus, of course, the increased efficiency and productivity of work.
I can highly recommend the FLS 170 saw to anyone looking for more efficient production, reduced operating costs and increased work safety. "
